19th-century Lacquer Pen Tray with Inkwell Inlay

This antique antique lacquer pen tray is among John Derian's trove of handpicked vintage & antique goods. Pen trays like this were commonly used on writing desks throughout the 1800s, combining organization with decorative detail. Made from lacquered wood or papier-mâché, the tray features built-in inkwell inlays, intended for use with quill or dip pens.
